When just testing the water, I used Derwent Watercolour pencils and
some cheap brushes. Coming from Yorkshire, I didn’t want to waste money
on something I didn’t know I would like, or was any good at.
When I was hooked, I invested in the following:-
Paints are Winsor & Newton Cotman series
Brushes are Winsor & Newton Cotman range, Seikai range of mop
and rigger
Paper is Saunders Waterford 100% cotton 300g/m^2 rough
Seawhite Watercolour Travel Journal sketchbook - (A5), 200g/m^2

My palette is:-
French Ultramarine
Cobalt blue hue
Yellow ochre
Light red
Hooker’s green
Alizarin crimson
Burnt Sienna
Burnt Umber
Raw Sienna
Payne’s grey
NB - For “whites” I either paint around, “lift out”, or “scratch out”
- I don’t use gouache.
