It strikes me that physicists of today seem rather blinked and fixated to dark matter, believing that is the only solution to a problem.
Yet, after decades of searching for it, they have failed to find dark matter!
It rather reminds me of this -

To give some context, Prof. Stacy McGaugh is a professional astrophysicist who studies galaxies and cosmology.
He blogs about his work at the above site.
Dark matter was “invented” to solve said problem above. It was shown that the orbital speeds of stars did not decrease (as per Kepler’s third law) but remained “flat” – the same speed.
The only way they could explain it then was the existence of extra matter that couldn’t be seen – dark matter.
Now, guess what!?
Dark matter doesn’t solve this (doesn’t come anywhere even close)!
However, there is a reval that does – MOND.
The majority of physicists ignore this and don’t even contemplate it as a solution.
Prof McGaugh wants to know why it works so well. He is a self-confessed MOND critic, yet he hasn’t thrown it out, he wants to understand why MOND works so well.
“The fact that MOND works so well, is surely telling us something … we shouldn’t just throw it out without investigating further.”
I tend to agree with him!
It seems rather premature and shortsighted to ignore it.
