Clown in Charge

Put a Clown in Charge, Get a Circus

Organisations reflect the character of whoever leads them. We are in the midst of a masterclass in what happens when “leaders” are indistinguishable from clowns.

When a clown takes charge, the circus follows as this type of leadership sets the tone and, crucially, the limits of acceptable behaviour.

The orange cretinous clown-baby, whose tantrums and decisions have become spectacularly idiotic come to mind (unfortunately, all too frequently). Statements announced in midnight rants via social media, instead in the rightful and proper place - parliament. Once firm allies alienated before breakfast and courted again by dinner. This ridiculousness has not merely been tolerated; it has even been celebrated by the faithful, mindless, sheep.

A circus has its own internal logic. Preformative — designed to dazzle, distract, and deflect scrutiny from the mechanics behind the curtain. Unwanted, unclear, noise! Markets lurch on a single post. Fraud is committed by those privy to sensitive information. Institutions built over decades are dismantled in a news cycle. The audience — voters, investors, allies — are kept perpetually off-balance, which is, of course, entirely the point!

The pattern is consistent and the damage is structural. Serious people depart. Accountability dissolves - no accountability! By the time the absurdity becomes undeniable, the costs are already being borne by those least able to afford them.

Choose leaders on character, competence, and the courage to do the right thing - for the good of the country and its people.

Clowns don’t belong in government!
