First Day Of Occv3

So, first day of occv3 has arrived.

I started the day with digging out my old eeePC 701 and clear my desk of modern computers. Before cleaning away the last modern laptop I flashed a USB stick with openbsd 7.3 (i386). I then booted up the 701 and started to install my new system for the week.

The install took about 30-40 minutes in total. Had to manually partition the disks since I needed some extra swap as well as mounting an external 8gb sd-card in /opt for extra storage.

First boot took about 10-15. This is mostly because of the relinking openbsd does at boot. Will move on to disabling this by deleting /var/db/kernel.SHA256 to speed up booting a bit.

The window manager of choice is openbsds’ default one, namely FVWM. Will stick to using xterm as my terminal emulator and for surfing it will msotly be links and dillo.

Since I use irc, blogging and such tools from tilde.guru I will use SSH (maybe mosh) quite a bit.

I had a plan to start a small coding project for the week (to do locally) but I have yet to figure out what that project should be. More thoughts on that later on…

Stay tuned!
